PPS4

Planning policy statement 4 ‘Planning for sustainable Economic Growth’ was published on 29th December 2009 and brings together all the Government’s planning policies relating to the economy in both urban and rural areas into one complete planning policy statement. PPS4 provides guidance on all types of economic development, including retail, offices, industrial development etc.

PPS4 provides a requirement to demonstrate the appropriateness of developments in their location, to assess alternative locations and to provide a sequential test to demonstrate alternative sites in town centres are not available.
